The mystery of the Holy Trinity will remain a mystery ~ but God~ in His wisdom allows his children some glimpses of understanding. One such everyday happening is to contemplate the sun. The sun is a planet, which by its very nature is and also produces light and heat. It could not be otherwise. We understand 'daylight' to be 'the sun rising, or being risen'. We also refer to rays of the sun as the heat of the sun, as in 'sunburn'. So, whether we are referring to the planet, the rays, or the light, it is still "the sun." The analogy of the sun to the Trinity is that one 'unit' is both source, enlightenment and power. Within the One Source, The Father exists; The Son is manifested by the light and exists; The Holy Spirit is felt and experienced as the 'Power' of the Source and exists. The heat rays of the sun are power in themselves, yet cannot be separated from the sun, just as the light has to exist as a result of the sun existing. These three, the planet, light and rays, exist because there is an actual reality ~ the sun! The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are an actual reality because there is just One Divine God who could not be cut off from one another without removing the other two. It is the very nature of God! Another facet to this analogy might be that 'sin' is a clouding over of our life. And just as a cloud can separate us from the light and heat of the sun, so can sin separate us from the life giving light of Jesus and the life sustaining power of the Holy Spirit.
